Feeds Formats
The feed formats provide the format in which to consume the content. Depending the type of feed being requested will determine the output formats available.
- Atom - Provides the Reuters content in the Atom 1.0 standard syndication feed - see the Atom formal standard. The Atom syndication format is an output format only used for the Content Feeds.
- Media RSS - Provides the Reuters content in the Media RSS (MRSS) 1.1.1 format,which is a Yahoo extension to RSS used to syndicate multimedia content. Media RSS is an output format only used for the Content Feeds. See the Media RSS Specification for more details.

JSON - Provides the Reuters Content in the Javascript Object Notation format. Json is used for both the Content Feeds and the Information Feeds. JSON is a lightweight data-interchange
format, please see http://www.json.org for more information.
- RSS - The RSS provide a light weight version of the Reuters content in the RSS 2.0 format. The RSS feeds are the only feed format that do not include full text news articles. The RSS feed provide standard RSS which includes a description and a link to the original content on http://www.reuters.com. As this is a lightweight feed and its performance and overhead are significantly better. RSS is an output format only used for the Content Feeds.
- OPML - Opml provides a format for listing the available feeds on Spotlight. The OPML format is used in the Spotlight Information Feeds, which displays the metadata associated with each of the Content Feeds. Please see OPML spec athttp://www.opml.org for more information.
- XML - The XML format is a simple proprietary xml format available for displaying the Information Feedscontent; this includes the Channels, ContentTypes and Editions feeds.
- PHP - Provides the Reuters Content in Serialized PHP format. The Serialized PHP can be used to display the response from both the Content Feeds and the Information Feeds. Serialized PHP is a data encoding format for PHP. This makes it a convenient format when developing with the PHP programming language due to its built in support.
